BEUK Meetup Breakdown #11
Bitcoin meetups for the UK and Ireland for 12th - 18th August 2024. Plus new merchants now accepting bitcoin.
“It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.” — Charles Darwin.
Good morning, readers! ☕️
As the world plays Whac-A-Mole with our sanity and every day feels like we could be on the set of a dystopian disaster movie, think of this as your weekly dose of orange sunshine. ☀️
I’m happy to report the Tooting Market meetup went very well. Over 70 bitcoiners turned up and even some unsuspecting passersby got roped into the proceedings.
We onboarded two additional businesses just before everyone arrived and they were thrilled to receive so much extra business on a Wednesday evening.
Going forward, the big meetups—with music and speakers—will be held quarterly and the more relaxed ones will be monthly. We don’t want to wear out Hashley too much—we need him to save some of that energy for orange-pilling businesses!
We have 11 meetups this coming week and 3 new businesses to report.
Sooo… let’s get into it…

Kerrs Heating: Kerr’s Heating is a gas boiler engineer in Newcastle that now accepts bitcoin and Lightning Network payments! Contact them for all your boiler servicing needs on Facebook or Instagram. ♨️

Calling All UK Bitcoiners:
Do you or someone you know have connections to the owners of a mom-and-pop shop offering international money transfers like Western Union or MoneyGram?
If so, we’d love an introduction! We’re inviting them to join a Twitter Space as industry experts to discuss the practicalities of their business, the challenges they face, and the cost-effectiveness of current solutions.
They’ll be joined by others in the field from Nigeria and India, so they won’t be alone.
That’s it for this week, enjoy the rest of your weekend and have a great week supporting your local Bitcoin meetups and businesses.
