BEUK Meetup Breakdown #25 🗞️
Bitcoin meetups for the UK and Ireland for 18th - 24th November 2024. Plus, new merchants now accepting bitcoin.
“It is not more bigness that should be our goal. We must attempt, rather, to bring people back to the warmth of community, to the worth of individual effort and responsibility." —Hubert H. Humphrey
Good morning and welcome to the 25th edition of The Meetup Breakdown.
This week, I’d like to use this introduction to give you a small assignment. When you’re out and about shopping, ask at least once: “Do you accept Bitcoin yet?” It’s a simple question, and 99% of the time, the answer will be “No.” However, it creates a Bitcoin touchpoint and leaves that person with something to think about.
This approach works best with smaller, independent merchants. (It might be amusing to ask in Tesco, but it’s unlikely to yield results.) If you’re speaking to staff, encourage them to mention it to the owner and highlight that a growing number of businesses are starting to accept Bitcoin as payment.
If everyone reading this gives it a try this week, we can create a lot of touchpoints.
If you’ve enjoyed the newsletter and find it valuable to you and the UK Bitcoin community, please consider donating some sats here.
